1993 was the hump era of "Dancehall Music," Producer Clifton "Specialist" Dillon decided to introduce business to his love of music. Subsequently, two offices were erected in strategic locations (Kingston, Jamaica and New York City) The international transition for this newly formed label was documented in its originality and cutting edge approach to the international music market. For years to follow, Shang Records became the umbrella for many famous artists such as Mad Cobra, Ritchie Stephens, Shabba Ranks , Patra and others.
The managing and directing savvy of the company's key players did not go unnoticed, it wasn't long before major labels such as Epic, Columbia, RCA, Motown, Capitol gained interest in our artists. The label subsequently secured two consecutive Grammy awards, five gold albums, four gold singles and two platinum singles.
Staying on top of the evolving music industry, Shang Records relocated to Miami Beach where both offices merged. With its new location as an Independent Label continued to seek new talents and create stars. Shang Records way of creating and delivering music is now being revealed through Ky-Mani Marley. Other upcoming acts are poised for releases.
The company has also enjoyed several movie soundtracks in feature 'flicks such as 'Buffy The vampire Slayer,' 'Adams Family Values,' Senseless,' 'Money Talks,and "The Associates" to name a few. Additionally, the company have also ventured into the actual movie world, with one movie already shot ('Shottas') and another, ('One Love') scheduled to start shooting in October
Through continued success Shang Records is about to receive its sister complex, the foundation is set for Backstage Recording Studios, a state of the art recording facility. In keeping with our character as a global enterprise, offices are also located in Jamaica, Paris, Canada and London.
